Aurangzeb holds an MSc degree in environment and development from Kings College London and a Master’s degree in Economics from Pakistan. Prior to entering politics, Aurangzeb worked as the head of corporate relations at the WWF Pakistan. She also served as a board member of LEAD Pakistan in 2013
Marriyum Aurangzeb (Urdu: مریم اورنگزیب) is a Pakistani politician who served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, in Abbasi cabinet from April 2018 to May 2018. Previously, she served as Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting from October 2016 to July 2017 in the third Sharif ministry and from August 2017 to April 2018 in the Abbasi ministry. She had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from June 2013 to May 2018.
She was educated at the Federal Government College, Islamabad and Quaid-e-Azam University and later attended the King’s College London in the United Kingdom. Prior to entering politics, she worked as a development practitioner with the WWF.
Appointed As Ministry of Information Broadcasting
The government appointed federal lawmaker Maryam Aurangzeb as minister of state for information, broadcasting and heritage.The decision was taken in a high-level meeting presided over by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by senior government officials. The meeting was held just two days after Pervaiz Rashid was asked to step down as information minister over a ‘fabricated’ report leaked to a newspaper.Aurangzeb’s appointment as the minister of state for information was announced through an official PML-N tweet.
