Mexican Couple Converted To Islam After Watching Diriliş: Ertuğrul
That is one heart-touching story!
A Mexican couple converted to Islam after watching the hit Turkish TV series Resurrection: Ertuğrul, and meeting with one of its actors at a convention in Los Angeles, United States.
Back in 2019, Celal Al, the actor who plays Abdurrahman Alp in the hit drama, attended the 22nd annual meeting of the Muslim American Society (MAS). MAS is a flagship Muslim organization. Celal attended the event and gave a speech about the series and Turkey.
At the end of the meeting, a Mexican couple converted to Islam by reciting the Islamic proclamation of faith (Shahadah) with the help of the famous actor.
‘’We were affected by Turkish TV series ”Resurrection: Ertuğrul’’ and Turkey’s humanitarian activities around the world, and then decided to become Muslim,’’ the couple said.
After embracing Islam, Al gifted the couple two Qur’ans, one in English and another in Spanish, as well as a Turkish flag.
Taking place in 13th century Anatolia, Resurrection: Ertuğrul, tells the story of the period prior to the establishment of the Ottoman Empire around the life of Ertuğrul Gazi, the father of the empire’s first leader.
The Urdu-dubbed version of Resurrection: Ertuğrul has become a monster hit in Pakistan, being watched by millions quarantined in their homes.
After Prime Minister Imran Khan encouraged Pakistanis to watch the series, the country’s national channel (PTV) is mobilizing fans and followers to break the world viewership record.
PTV needs 3.15M subscribers more to break the world record. The current subscribers are at 3.45M. Both PTV and TRT are working tirelessly to break the world record.
